Westham 1889 Kelly's Directory
Westham in this parish [Wyke Regis] is a suburb of Weymouth. Here is a chapel of ease in connection with the parish church of Wyke Regis, built of Bath stone and red brick, opened in 1880, and will seat about 190: the Rev. Alexander Gordon is the curate in charge. Application has been made to the Ecclesiastical Commissioners to form Westham into a separate ecclesiastical district, with an endowment from the rector of Wyke. Here is also a Mission Hall, unsectarian, to seat about 200.
Post Office - Robert Bartlett, receiver. Letters arrive from Weymouth, 8 & 12am & 3 & 8pm. Dispatched 8 & 10.15am & 1.15, 3, 6 & 8pm. The nearest money order & telegraph office is at Weymouth.
National School, built in 1882, for 140 children; average attendance, 90; Miss Minnie Read, mistress
